How CAP works..
The first step is to call the CAP helpline free on 0800 328 0006 to make an appointment with your local CAP Centre
Once your appointment is booked, this is what we offer:
1. A Home Visit
Ken (our CAP Debt Coach) will visit you in your own home accompanied by a member of the Open Door Church to meet you, find out what your situation is and gather information
2. An Effective Budget
A realistic budget that prioritises your essential bills will be prepared using the information gathered. You will receive a second home visit to explain the budget, any options you have in terms of working your way out of debt, and what payments you need to make. Our CAP support teams will then negotiate affordable payments with each creditor and stop unfair interest and charges where possible.
3. CAP Account
If you choose to work with us, we will visit you a third time to set up a CAP Account. This acts like a simple bank account and can be used to pay your regular bills and debts. You will need to make one weekly or monthly payment into your account to cover all of your bills and debts. CAP will then distribute this to your creditors on your behalf. You also build up savings in your CAP Account.
4. Severe Debt
If you are in severe debt then we can walk you through insolvency options, such as bankruptcy. We can help you to fill out forms and even attend court with you.
5. Becoming Debt Free
You will use your CAP Account to pay bills and debt repayments and you will be supported by us until you are completely debt free.
